Snype heads girls’ all-region soccer list

Moryah Snype is the 2019 Region 8-AAAAA Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Fort Dorchester senior Moryah Snype has been named the Region 8-AAAAA Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Snype has been in the Lady Patriots’ soccer program for six years. A versatile player, she became a starter early in her high school career. As a senior captain this season, she led Fort Dorchester to a runner-up finish for the region and into the second round of the state playoffs. Last week, she signed to play college soccer for Gardner Webb.

Fort Dorchester juniors Zoey Conrad and Ambrea Hills join Snype on the all-region team.

Ashley Ridge landed four seniors on this year’s all-region team: Addi Wells, Natalie Blatner, Campbell Gibson and Olivia Hughes.

Representing Summerville on the all-region team are senior Reagan Gregory and juniors Emma Sipple and Brynn Brusseau. Others on the team are Stall’s Leslie Corondao and West Ashley’s Claire Busby, Payton Layne Kahler and Lauren Lupton.

After leading Ashley Ridge to a clean sweep of its region opponents this spring, Swamp Fox coach Mark Weaver has been named the Region 8-AAAAA Coach of the Year. Ashley Ridge advanced to the third round of the state playoffs before falling to eventual Lower State Champion Wando. The Swamp Foxes finished the season with a 16-6 record.
