Pepperhill/Wescott American topped Summerville during the first day of the 2019 South Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball AA Machine Pitch District 7 All-Stars Tournament.
Wescott American came out of a tight game June 15 with a 6-3 victory over Summerville to move into the winners’ bracket of the tournament at North Charleston’s Wescott Park. Hanahan and Ladson also moved into the winners’ bracket with wins over Northwoods/Park Circle and Pepperhill/Wescott National, respectively.
Elimination games were scheduled for June 17-19 and the tournament championship series is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 20 on Wescott Parks’ San Francisco Field. If no team remains undefeated after the first game of the series, a second game will be played 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first.
The District 7 Champion will advance to participate in the AA Machine Pitch State Tournament scheduled for July 5-9 in Delmae, South Carolina.
Wescott Park is also hosting the Majors District 7 All-Stars Tournament this week. The championship series for that tournament is scheduled for 6 p.m. June 19 on the Boston Field.
District 7 sub-district and district tournaments for other age divisions are playing out at other sites this month.
The District 7, Sub District A tournament is being hosted by Ladson June 17-22 while the Sub District B tournament is being hosted by Hanahan June 17-22. The top teams from those sub-district tournaments will compete June 25-27 in Hanahan for the District 7 AAA Championship and advancement to the state tournament.
The district “O” Zone tournament is being hosted by Goose Creek June 24-27.
District 7 includes teams from the Bonneau, St. Andrews, Goose Creek, Hanahan, Ladson, Moncks Corner, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Parks Field and St. Paul Dixie Youth Baseball programs.
