After narrowing its margin of loss last week, the Ashley Ridge Football team claimed its first win of the season Oct. 23.

The Swamp Foxes hosted Stall for Ashley Ridge’s homecoming game and rolled to a 58-18 victory to improve to 1-4 on the season and 1-3 in Region 8-AAAAA. Stall dropped to 0-5 and 0-4.

A failed two-point conversion attempt in the final minute prevented Summerville from pulling off an upset and left the Region 8-AAAAA Football Championship in Fort Dorchester’s hands.

The Patriots Football team continues to steam roll through its schedule.

The Patriots’ closest contest came in their season opener when they handed Ashley Ridge a 41-20 loss in The Swamp. Since, Fort Dorchester has earned a 56-15 win over Goose Creek, 70-0 win over Stall and a 42-14 win at West Ashley last week to improve to 4-0 on the season with a 3-0 mark in Region 8-AAAAA.

The Summerville Volleyball team defeated Cane Bay 3-0 Oct. 15 in The Firehouse.

With the win, the Green Wave improved to 8-3 on the season with a 6-2 mark against Region 8-AAAAA opponents. The team’s only losses are to Ashley Ridge, which swept the Wave, and Wando.

The Fort Dorchester Football team is coming off a blowout over Stall, but things won’t likely be that easy this week.

The Patriots handed the Warriors a 70-0 loss Oct. 9 in Fort Dorchester’s homecoming game. The Patriots took a 42-0 lead in the opening quarter and went to its bench heavily the remainder of the game. Eight different players had a reception for the Patriots while nine had rushing yards.
